They are exceptionally good at moving around by climbing walls, burrowing under foundations or entering through drainage systems. A mouse can enter a gaps as small as 5mm, which means most properties will have an access point for them.
How to get rid of mice and rats

If conditions are favourable, rodents can reproduce every 19-23 days and the litter (of 5-11 offspring) will wean in the same time scale and be sexually mature themselves in 5-16 weeks. This can result in a huge population explosion in a short space of time which is why mice are considered one of the most prevalent species of mammal!
